Quentin Johnson

“I enjoy working at Manhattan because it doesn't feel like work. I'm just living life with six other people,” Quentin Johnson, a Counselor atManhattan Apartments, told us. “I especially enjoy being the primary counselor for Doug Coker and Wes Ingle. They are a lot of fun, and we enjoy each other's company. A vital part of enjoying what I do is that each member of the team at Manhattan does a fantastic job of carrying out his/her responsibilities and caring and advocating for the consumers. Each of the staff is very gifted in what he/she does. There is no weakest link - we are all one link.”

Quentin’s supervisor, Kristen Compston, wrote in her recommendation for Quentin to be in the Employee Spotlight, “Quentin has been an exemplary staff member. He is a wonderful advocate for our consumers and goes above and beyond in most everything he does, from bringing home made goodies to our staff meetings to researching and facilitating a vacation for one of our residents.

“Quentin was new to the direct care world when he started at Manhattan last November, and he has taken to it wonderfully. He maintains a great rapport with our residents and I know that each of the consumers is well cared for and in great hands. Quentin has a natural understanding of advocacy and ensures that we are doing all we can to provide the highest quality of care.”

A wonderful endorsement of Quentin’s work comes from Pam Schuldt, whose brother Doug Coker lives at Manhattan Apartments. “Quentin is Doug’s primary staff member and I am writing to compliment him for doing a great job. Quentin is professional, competent, and most of all, caring. He takes the time to ask questions and to learn about Doug. In order to try to figure out the best plan for Doug, he is always trying to understand Doug’s background and the reasons for some of his behaviors. Quentin is very conscientious and always keeps me informed about both progress and problems. Quentin’s goal is to make Doug's life better for both him and those who love him. He has always shown only great respect for Doug and strives to work WITH him, not to simply tell him what to do. My brother Quentin is pastor at First Baptist Church in Lafayette, Colorado and does this counseling work during the week. He really enjoys it and is obviously gifted to work well with these people. Good job Quentin!!
