The kids had an absolute BLAST on vacation exploring. There were a lot of creeply crawly critters! Gabriel and Annalina were a team in catching butterflies and they caught a lot of them. They also got grasshoppers, crickets, lady bugs, and black beetles. It was fun watching them and it reminded me of my childhood, that is what I spent a lot of time doing was catching bugs and I loved it. I like seeing my children enjoying some of the same things I enjoyed as a child.
One day on some of our walks we found a rat (we think) and thankfully Annalina spotted a snake (above picture) before I walked into it and probably would have gotten bitten! Babe took a stick to move it and it got mad and curled up and raised it's head.
Gabriel caught this lizard by the tail and it broke it's tail off to get away (Annalina told him not to catch it by its tail). Annalina got bitten in the process and it drew blood and it didn't even phase her! Gabriel caught it again and they put it in an empty diaper wipe container. Gabriel and Annalina loved attempting to feed it insects but eventually it escaped.
It was fun while it lasted!
The broken off tail of the lizard. It was a another opportunity to teach the kids how silly evolution is!
Checking on the lizard.
One of the highlights of their catches was the Swallowtail Butterfly (We think)! It was big and beautiful and Annalina was quite taken with it. She wrote a song for it and sung the song over and over and over to the butterfly. It was cute and sweet.
